Man Forced Into Quarantine by “Vigilante” Neighbors
After testing positive for the virus, a man was forced into quarantine by his neighbors in Maine. It’s reported the man who contracted the virus refused to go into quarantine. His neighbors took it upon themselves to chop down a tree in his driveway which would prevent him from leaving his house. When the man finally went outside to see why his cable wasn’t working, he found the tree and an angry mob of neighbors surrounding the house. It’s reported they threatened to harm him if he or his roommates broke quarantine. The residents were then forced to call the Coast Guard for help. When they arrived there was no mob, but it was apparent the tree had been cut down and purposefully positioned in the driveway. State Representative Genevieve McDonald has said this incident is nothing to celebrate. She condemned the “vigilante” act and warned others not to “encourage an ‘us vs. them’ mentality” during these uncertain times.
