Executive Order Closing All Beaches Could Get Violators Jail Time

151 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Carolina has brought the overall total to nearly 1,000 with 18 deaths. Governor Henry McMaster has issued yet another executive order officially closing all beaches to the public. This includes access to boat ramps, landings and more on rivers and lakes as well. It does not include people with valid commercial licenses or private property owners. McMaster said it was necessary due to the unfortunate amount of people disobeying preventative health measures. Violation of the order will result in a misdemeanor offense with a minimum fine of $100 or a maximum of 30 days in jail. According to Unacast, a “trustworthy data location” company, South Carolina received a “C rating” when it came to participating in social distancing.
