Norwegian Cruise Line Under Investigation
Norwegian Cruise Line is being investigated by the Florida Attorney General for possibly misleading passengers on the coronavirus. It’s believed the cruise line downplayed the severity of the outbreak and told employees to give “potentially dangerous sales pitches” to customers. A whistle-blower leaked emails by the company that told them to say things like, “The only thing you need to worry about is…do you have enough sunscreen?” or “the coronavirus can only survive in cold temperatures, so the Caribbean is a fantastic choice for your next cruise.” Norwegian is one of 50 cruise lines no longer operating out of U.S. ports. It’s no secret the cruise ship industry has been hit particularly hard by the virus, especially after multiple ships became outbreak epicenters. Presently, there are at least 30 ships still stranded at sea carrying thousands of passengers who have been exposed to the virus. The ships are being denied access to ports so they can disembark and have nowhere to go. Two people have died aboard these ships so far.
