President Trump Signs Second Coronavirus Relief Bill

The number of coronavirus cases in the U.S. has surpassed 9,000 and has officially reached all 50 states. The death toll has now also grown to almost 150. The government says they are preparing for the outbreak to last for possibly 18 months with multiple waves and have predicted upwards of 150 million people could become infected. In light of all this, yesterday President Trump officially signed a coronavirus economic relief bill. Not only will it ensure paid sick leave for certain employees, but it also will allow for up to three months of paid emergency leave. The bill will also ensure free testing for the virus, and help reimburse businesses through tax credits. It will also reportedly provide up to one billion dollars in food aid. Congress is already working on a third, more targeted relief bill. The treasury department is also proposing a nearly one trillion dollar package, which would allocate billions of dollars between the airline industry, parts of the economy, and small businesses largely impacted by the outbreak.
