Outbreak Fears Allow for Stricter Immigration Policies
The Trump Administration is also working hard to keep our borders closed. In one week, at least 12 major changes have been made that includes suspending refugee admissions, denying entry to asylum seekers, and even canceling deportation flights. The DOJ will also postpone immigration hearings and will close their courts for the time being. The U.S. and Canada have mutually agreed to halt nonessential travel between the two countries. The U.S. has also extended it’s European travel restrictions to include Ireland and the UK when it previously did not. These are major immigration restrictions the Trump Administration has been attempting to do for years, but were unable to pull off. Now, the outbreak has provided the perfect opportunity for them to enact their more restrictive policies. The White House has confirmed they will continue to crack down on illegal immigration.
