Horry County Schools Offer Digital Learning Devices During Closures

Horry County Schools are giving students the option to take home a digital learning device during school closures. Students in grades 3-12 will be able to bring home a ‘personalized digital learning device’ if they do not have a device at home. Elementary students will take home an iPad, middle school students will take home a chromebook and high school students will take home a laptop. Parents and guardians will be required to present their drivers license or other form of identification during pick up. They’ll also have the option to pay a $12 technology fee but the district says that if the parent doesn’t pay the fee, then they assume all responsibility for the device if it is damaged while at home. Students don’t have to be present for parents to pick up the devices.
