Today’s Primaries Could Determine Next Democratic Nominee

Today Senator Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden will be facing off once more in what is being called “Super Tuesday: The Sequel”. The states participating in this second round of primaries are Idaho, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota and Washington. The six states combined possess a total of 352 delegates up for grabs. Biden currently holds a sizable lead in the polls ahead of Sanders by almost 20%. He also holds a lead in national pledged delegates but by a much smaller margin. With 664 delegates, Sanders trails close behind at 573. In total, 1,991 are needed to become the nominee. The results of today’s second round of primaries in the Midwest, especially by states like Michigan and Missouri, could be very telling for the future of the Sanders campaign. With the amount of endorsements, donations and delegates Biden currently has, he is projected to come out on top again. Sanders will need some pretty sizable wins if he wants to stay in this race.
