The Taliban Breaks Conditions of Peace Deal Days After Signing

Just days after signing a historic peace deal with the U.S., the Taliban has resumed perpetrating violence within Afghanistan. Yesterday alone, the Taliban conducted 43 separate attacks all in the name of freeing Afghanistan from intelligence forces. Then Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry reported dozens of military and civilian deaths after a series of several more attacks over night. In light of these attacks, the president was forced to order a defensive airstrike against the Taliban early this morning. It was the first strike by the U.S. against the Taliban in 11 days. The fate of the peace deal is now up in the air. The conditions of the agreement were based upon mutual cooperation. While the president had hoped to begin withdrawing several thousand troops, he will not do so at the risk of the safety of Americans.
