Houston Residents Under Water Advisories After Major Main Break
A massive water main break yesterday has flooded roadways in Houston, Texas. A 35-year-old water main busted around the area of east loop 610. It flooded streets, freeways, and covered cars. It even shut down and entire highway, causing major back ups in traffic. Some stranded motorists had to be rescued but no injuries were reported. Experts estimated the 96 inch main would take up to eight hours to fix and another eight hours to drain the water. Then they will be able to begin any remaining repairs. Residents are being asked to seriously conserve water and some are even being placed under boil-water advisories following the incident. Those with weakened immune systems are asked to take extra precaution as potentially harmful bacteria could remain in the water for some time.
