Vanessa Bryant Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Same Day as Public Memorial

A public memorial for Kobe and Gianna Bryant was held at the Staples Center yesterday. The event was led by Jimmy Kimmel who gave a very emotional speech before welcoming Kobe’s wife, Vanessa to the stage. She bravely delivered poignant and personal eulogies for for both her late daughter and husband. While she managed to stay strong for the majority of the time, there were moments where she broke down and had to be encouraged on by cheers from the crowd. Also to speak was Michael Jordan who tearfully referred to Kobe as a brother. Artists Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, and Christina Aguilera also gave very heartfelt performances at the service. It was revealed yesterday that Vanessa is filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the helicopter company. The claim includes numerous counts of negligence by the company as well as the pilot, who also died in the crash. It says he did not safely operate the helicopter and failed to properly assess weather conditions before taking off.
