Shooting in St. Louis Ends in Death of 6-Year-Old Boy
A shooting in St. Louis killed a 6-year-old boy and seriously injured a 9-year-old girl. The shooting occurred in the area of Highland Avenue and North Euclid Avenue early Saturday afternoon. Police believe an unidentified man opened fire on a car the children were inside of. Also inside the car was a 27-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman, and a third child, a 7-year-old girl. The man and woman rushed the young children to the hospital. Unfortunately, the 6-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after. The boy has been identified as David Birchfield III. The 9-year-old girl is reported to have suffered critical injuries while the 7-year-old girl only sustained minor injuries from broken glass. The adult male and female were unharmed. The shooting is currently still under investigation by police as they search for the unknown perpetrator.
