Top Official Warns Russia May Interfere in President’s Favor for 2020 Election

It’s been revealed that lawmakers were recently warned Russia plans to assist President Trump win the 2020 election. The briefing, delivered last week, was given by the Intelligence Community’s Top Election Security Official, Shelby Pierson. She detailed how Russia would interfere by hacking and weaponizing social media to attack the election’s infrastructure. She also mentioned that while Russia does favor President Trump, that is not their sole motive for interfering. They also hope it will raise questions and concerns regarding the integrity of U.S. electoral proceedings. While the exact contents of the briefing have not been released, it’s been reported that shortly after, the president was extremely “irate”. Especially during a meeting he had with Outgoing Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire regarding information shared during the briefing.
