Roger Stone Sentenced to 40 Months in Prison
Roger Stone has been sentenced to 40 months in prison. Stone’s trial was the center of recent controversy after the federal prosecutors working on the case were under-minded by the Department of Justice. They initially recommended a sentence of seven to nine years after Stone was found guilty on all seven counts of lying to and obstructing congress. However, Attorney General William Barr retracted the statement soon after the president, and long-time friend to Stone, came out criticizing the judgement as “too harsh”. Stone was finally sentenced yesterday to three years and four months in prison. He was also given two-years probation on each count, will have to do community service and pay a $20,000 fine. It’s reported he left court with a smile on his face. President Trump has said he would most likely pardon Stone if the judge denies his request for a retrial.
