Jury Begins Deliberations for Harvey Weinstein Trial
The jury has begun deliberations on the New York Harvey Weinstein trial as of yesterday. So far, no verdict has been reached, but it’s possible one could come as early as today. 67-year-old Weinstein currently faces first-degree criminal sexual act, two counts of rape and two counts of predatory sexual assault. Depending on the amount and severity of charges he is sentenced with, he may get life in prison. However, it is also possible he may be acquitted. This ruling could stem from the fact that multiple victims maintained a relationship with Weinstein even after they were allegedly assaulted by him. But even if he is acquitted in New York, it’s not over for Weinstein. He will still have to stand trial in LA where he faces multiple felony charges, including rape and sexual battery for two different women. In total, Weinstein has been accused of rape or sexual assault by almost 100 women but many can’t press charges as statute of limitations on the incidences has passed.
