Arkansas Walmart Shooter Dead After Firing at Officers
Two police officers were injured and a man is dead after opening fire in a Walmart in
Forrest City, Arkansas yesterday. Lieutenant Eric Varner and Detective Eugene Watlington responded to complaints of a man threatening people, threatening to blow up the Walmart, and in general “talking out of his mind”. When they arrived, the suspect pulled a gun on them and fired. Both Varner and Watlington sustained gunshot wounds. Watlington required surgery but both are expected to make a full recovery. Arkansas State Police, along with the help of Walmart’s Director of National Media Relations, are currently investigating the incident. The events may be slightly more difficult to piece together than others since neither officer was wearing a body cam because their division does not require it.
