First American Reported Killed From Coronavirus
Almost 1,000 people have now died from the coronavirus with 97 of those deaths occurring yesterday marking it the deadliest day so far. The death toll has easily surpassed that of the deadly 2003 SARS outbreak. It isn’t expected to slow down anytime soon, either, as the number infected has increased to well over 40,000 people. This is nearly doubled from last week. And one American has officially died as a result of the virus. The U.S. Embassy in Beijing confirmed the 60-year-old passed away at a local hospital in China just a few days ago. China has come out saying that 8.2% of patients have been cured of the virus, a number that has risen from 1.3% since end of January. A National Health Commission spokesman has attributed the success to their preliminary treatment of the virus but declined to elaborate on what the exact treatment was.
