Third Grader Receives Warm Welcome Following Kidney Transplant
A Foxbank elementary student was welcomed back to school with cheers and applause following a kidney transplant. Third-grader Zakery Holobwicz needed a kidney transplant after doctors discovered he was in stage five renal failure. His mother ended up being a match and without a second thought gave him her kidney. They did the surgery just two days before his ninth birthday when he was at less than 10% kidney function and it saved his life. Zakery returned to school to find teachers and students lining the hallways. They held signs, cheered and applauded as he made his way to class. It’s reported Zak has been doing really well since the surgery.
