Initial Iowa Caucus Results Name Pete Buttigieg the Winner

The initial results of the Iowa caucus are finally in after two days. They show Pete Buttigieg in the lead with 26.8% and Senator Bernie Sanders following closely behind at 25.2 percent. Senator Elizabeth Warren is in third with 18.4% and former Vice President Joe Biden in fourth at 15.4%. Amy Klobuchar came in at 12.6 percent and hopeful Andrew Yang’s results came in at a staggering 1%. This is a big win for 38-year-old Buttigieg who went from a relatively unknown openly gay mayor to a serious contender for the democratic party. However, this could change as votes are still coming in. The delay comes after an app the Iowa democratic party used to collect information experienced bug issues. It’s an error that’s considered a major embarrassment for the democratic party and caucus proceedings in general.
