Deadly Shooting at Texas University Residence Hall
Two women were killed and a 2-year-old child wounded in a shooting yesterday at a Texas A&M Commerce University residence hall. When university police arrived on the scene they found the two deceased female victims in a room along with the injured child. The 2-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition. Students and faculty were initially ordered to take shelter as a precaution, however police shortly after lifted the order and said there is no longer an imminent threat to the area. The investigation is still active and police have declined to reveal many details, including a motive for the shooting and how many suspects they are looking for. Classes, programs and other events have been canceled on the campus through Thursday. The school has also increased the presence of staff and university police around campus and extended their counseling center services.
