Coronavirus Death Toll Nearly Triples in One Week

China reported another major spike of the Wuhan coronavirus in both confirmed deaths and infected cases with still no sign of a cure in sight. There are currently almost 20,500 people confirmed infected with the death toll reaching 425 people, a number that has tripled since last week. The virus has also spread across more than 25 countries, with about 190 cases confirmed infected and two people dead outside mainland China. The coronavirus has now overtaken the SARS epidemic of 2003 where 349 people died over a period of nine months. Scientists continue to experiment with different drugs and currently hope to treat the symptoms with preexisting antiviral medications. The man with the first confirmed case of the coronavirus in the U.S. has been discharged from a Washington state hospital. He remains in isolation and under watch in his home.
