Longest Drug-Smuggling Tunnel Found in San Diego

Federal agents have discovered the longest drug-smuggling tunnel along the southwest border. The 4,309-foot tunnel was discovered by CBP and partners following a years long investigation. It’s 5 feet, 5 inches tall and two feet wide laying about 70 feet below ground. The tunnel begins approximately 250 feet south of the border in Tijuana and goes all the way into the San Diego county. It’s equipped with air ventilation, electricity, elevators at each entrance, and an extensive rail and cart system that goes the entire length of the tunnel. No arrests or seizures have been made in connection to the tunnel, but CBP agents maintain they will continue their investigation in attempt to secure our border from drug cartels. The previous record-length tunnel was also discovered in San Diego in 2014 and was 3,259 feet long.
