White Supremacist Who Killed Nine Appeals Death Sentence

The white supremacist who killed nine South Carolina church goers has appealed his death penalty sentence. Back in June of 2015, Dylann Roof open fired during a bible study session in the Emanuel AME church in Charleston killing nine people. He later told FBI he hoped his actions would bring back segregation or possibly start a race war. Roof was the first person to ever be sentenced to death for a federal hate crime. However, his lawyers argued he suffered from schizophrenia and other psychological disorders which is why he acted as his own lawyer during his trial.
