Attention on Capitol Hill Focused on Reaction to Bolton’s Draft Manuscript

The president’s defense team continued to give their opening statements yesterday in the senate impeachment trial. Many people were watching yesterday to see how republicans would react to news of John Bolton’s manuscript draft where he claimed the president had told him he would withhold aid from Ukraine until they finished the investigations into democrats, including Joe Biden and his son. But, republicans simply said Bolton’s claims didn’t amount to an impeachable offense and moved on.
However, Bolton’s claim has sparked a lot of confusion and controversy. White House officials and G.O.P. members have said they felt blind sided by the news and wanted to learn more with many calling for Bolton to testify in the senate impeachment trial now.
