Senate Impeachment Trial Continues

Yesterday was the second day for democratic house managers to give their opening statements for the senate impeachment trial. Here’s what you need to know. Democrats gave an extremely detailed case for removing President Trump from office, focusing mainly on the article for abuse of power. This was followed after the session by republican senators defending the president citing “policy issues” and frustration as the reasons behind the president’s decisions concerning the Ukraine scandal and that he in fact was acting in an appropriate manner. Also continually being discussed is the structure of the trial’s opening statements. It’s possible they’ll stretch their allotted time over the course of the entire weekend and might not even use all of it. They hope to hold a short trial Saturday morning to hear from the president’s defense team, before letting all senators leave town.
