Russia’s Entire Government Resigns
Breaking news this morning as the entire Russian government announced they are resigning. The announcement was made on Russian state TV. The decision comes after president Vladimir Putin proposed amendments to their constitution that would weaken his successor and give more power to parliament and the prime minister instead. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the rest of the government resigning is a move that could suggest a major shift in power for the country’s future. Currently, Putin is supposed to step down in 2024 after serving four terms since 2000. Bill Browder, a prominent Russian financial manager said, “For him to sack the prime minister and change the constitution four years before his term is up suggests he’s deeply afraid of something. What that is, we have still to find out.”
