Puerto Rico in State of Emergency After Earthquake

Puerto Rico is in a state of emergency after they were struck by a deadly 6.4 magnitude earthquake yesterday. The earthquake killed at least one person, injured many others, and triggered power outages across the entire island. It also caused extreme structural damage to many homes, roads, bridges and even a major landmark. There have been at least 51 aftershocks following the initial quake, including one with a magnitude of 5.6. There have been nearly 500 earthquakes in Puerto Rico in the last eleven days. Entire families are now sleeping on cots and chairs in the streets or in their cars. It is being deemed as Puerto Rico’s most damaging earthquake in almost a century. It’s still unclear how much damage has been caused but experts say it could take billions of dollars to repair.
