Detroit Firefighters Under Investigation After Selfie Goes Viral

A Detroit fire crew is under investigation after a photo surfaced of them posing in front of a burning house. The photo of the crew was posted to the Detroit Fire Incidents Facebook page and captioned “Crews take a moment to get a selfie on New Years!” City Fire Officials have confirmed the house was empty, as were the surrounding buildings during the time of the photo. Officials have also stated the photo was taken to commemorate a fellow colleague’s retirement. But the photo was eventually removed after many voiced their outrage. Detroit Fire Commissioner Eric Jones said the photo displayed “inappropriate and unprofessional” behavior and shortly after announced an internal investigation into the crew. He also said “there are a lot of ways to celebrate a retirement. Taking a photo in front of a building fire is not one of them.”
