Increased Anti-Semitic Attacks in New York City
After six anti-Semitic attacks in less than four days, the New York City Police Department is ramping up their investigations. The attacks began with the arrest of a woman Monday morning who physically and verbally assaulted another woman. Then a man was arrested after he punched and kicked a 65-year-old man while screaming slurs and other obscenities at him. Two young children were also struck on the back of their heads by a group of teenage assailants. The last two incidents also involved verbal and physical assaults. All attacks resulted in minor injuries to the victims. But the NYPD and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio have said enough is enough and begun investigating all possible connections to the assaults. The attacks all occurred within the span of a week during Hanukkah, one of the most celebrated Jewish holidays, and many feel that is not a coincidence.
