Death Row Inmate Will Now Receive Bail

A man is off death row and eligible for bail after his sixth murder trial ended in a overturned conviction for racial bias. Curtis Flowers has spent the last twenty-three years in prison and had six separate trials during this time. All of which ended in either hung juries or overturned convictions. On his sixth sentence, he was finally found guilty and sentenced to death. But, in June the decision was overturned yet again. They say district attorney Bob Evans, who was involved with all six trials, engaged in unconstitutional racial discrimination when he wouldn’t allow African American jurors to be apart of the panel. Prosecutors allege that on July 16, 1996 Flowers stole a pistol from his uncle’s car and shot Beth Tardy, his former employer, and killed three other store employees to eliminate witnesses. Flowers is currently eligible for bail for upwards of $250,000 dollars.
