Many Consider COP25 to be a Failure

Two long weeks of debates regarding the climate change crisis in Madrid have finally come to an end. What was originally supposed to be twelve days turned into fourteen as negotiators struggled to come up with a substantial plan that could please both activists demands and the world’s biggest polluting nations. A “rule book” was finally created with the hope of the signatories meeting specific goals in order to cut greenhouse gas emissions before 2020. But many believe the results of the cop25 to be a monumental fail. They say the language of the “rule book” is not strong enough when concerning such an urgent matter. There was disappointment that many of the major issues were pushed to next year’s meeting.
