5th Democratic Debate Highlights

Right out of the gate, the historic impeachment hearings took center stage at the fifth democratic debate last night.

Joe Biden said, quote, “I learned something about these impeachment trials. I learned number one that Donald Trump doesn’t want me to be the nominee.”  Health care also remained a heated issue among Democrats with Senator Elizabeth Warren’s “medicare for all” plan drawing attention on the stage. Warren said she plans to lower the age of medicare to fifty, and expand coverage to include vision, dental and long term care.

Climate change, foreign policy, and abortion were the other hot topics of the night.  Pete Buttigieg, who came in hot after rising in Iowa polls, was attacked on this front. Other candidates questioned the Indiana mayor’s leadership and ability to attract diverse supporters.  Nonetheless, he was one of the night’s winners along with Kamala Harris, who established herself as a fighter for the average voter.
