President Trump is heading to Canada today for the G-7 summit, and while that could entail some real drama about the U.S.’s new tariffs, he is already looking to duck out early to make the journey to Singapore. Singapore is getting ready, beefing up security. The President received some last minute advice from Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe at the White House, even holding out the possibility that North Korea’s Kim Jong Un could eventually visit the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said he wants North Korea to give up its nukes. The President is trying to settle expectations, saying Singapore is just the start. The wild card is North Korea and what Kim is really seeking.
