Summit Sinks

President Trump has decided to pull out of next month's summit with Kim Jong Un.

It was a surprise move from President Trump, but both sides seem to holding out hope that the talks will get back on track. North Korea still wants this summit to happen, or at least that’s what they’re saying. However, the White House says that’s not the message they’ve been getting from the regime. President trump says he pulled out of the proposed summit because of the North’s renewed nuclear threats and bellicose language. But a North Korean official responded in a statement, saying the decision is regrettable, and that North Korea is still ready to meet. North Korea also blew up parts of a nuclear test site yesterday, seen as a measure of good faith, but no outside experts were on hand to verify the extent of the destruction. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Congress that North Korea also wasn’t responding to U.S. outreach in planning the summit.
