Arrest in Officer Death

Baltimore County Police have arrested one teen and are holding three others in connection with the death of a Maryland police officer.

Sixteen-year-old Dawnta Harris has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Baltimore County police officer Amy Caprio. The 29-year-old officer responded to a possible burglary in a residential neighborhood Monday when police say Harris ran over Caprio with a stolen black jeep. Officials say the nearly four-year veteran died from multiple trauma to the head and torso. Harris already has a long rap sheet of allegedly stealing cars and was wearing an ankle monitor for previous car thefts at the time of the incident. Three other teens, ages 17, 16, and 15, are also in custody. Caprio is the first female officer to be killed in the line of duty in the department’s history. She is survived by her husband, Tim.
