Fatal Brooklyn Shooting
A man in New York City was shot and killed by police after pointing a metal pipe -that resembled a gun- at several people.
Hundreds gathered Thursday night to remember 34-year-old Saheed Vassell, a black man shot and killed by police in New York City Wednesday night. Brooklyn residents had called 911 about a man brandishing a silver object at people. NYPD officers responded to the scene, where four officers opened fire, killing Vassell. It turns out he had a metal pipe with a knob on the end, not a gun. Surveillance video released Thursday shows what happened leading up to the fatal incident. According to Vassell’s father, he suffered from bipolar disorder and was off his medication. New York’s Attorney General has launched an investigation into the incident.
