Immigration Ire
President Trump began the week with tough talk on immigration, while also blasting Congress for failing on DACA.
President Trump started the the week with some tough talk on immigration and a warning about a wave of illegal immigrants that appears to be headed for the border. His comments, a part of a series of attacks on immigration policies, reference a report of a caravan of immigrants from Central America headed through Mexico to the U.S border. He’s also hinting at displeasure with Congress for failing to reach a deal to protect young immigrants already in the country, referred to as Dreamers. The President lifted their legal protections but a court has put that on hold and efforts to reach a permanent deal in Congress have reached a standstill. Also in limbo is the fate of NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement that President Trump has so long been critical of.
