Trump Talks Infrastructure
President Trump is in Ohio toda, trying to breathe life into his stalled infrastructure plan.
President Trump is traveling to Ohio to tout his administration’s plan to overhaul the nation’s aging roads and bridges, visiting a trade union representing heavy equipment operators. Trump’s appearance in the battleground state comes as the infrastructure proposal he formally unveiled in February is now stalled in congress. Democrats argue it doesn’t include enough federal dollars, and puts too much financial burden on individual states. The President is expected to make the case that his plan will mean significant job growth. A recent report from the White House council of economic advisers forecasts the $1.5 trillion plan will add between 290,000 to 414,000 jobs over a decade. With lawmakers shifting their focus to getting re-elected in November, there is little expectation Congress will take up a sweeping infrastructure proposal. Instead house speaker Paul Ryan says he plans to move an infrastructure overhaul package in multiple bills.
