Presidential Gun Safety

President Trump has unveiled his new proposals to improve school safety.

President Trump’s gun safety plan calls for arming school teachers, and an audit of the FBI’s tip line. The White House is set to formally endorse bills that would improve federal background check systems and give grants to states developing plans to counter school violence starting Monday. The administration is also creating a commission on school violence that will be headed by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. President Trump had previously called for raising the age limit to purchase assault weapons from 18 to 21, a move the NRA – which endorsed Trump and donated to his white house campaign- opposes. The group is currently suing the state of Florida over a similar age restriction law that was passed Friday.
