After a narrow early morning vote, Congress moved to end a partial government shutdown.
From day, to night, and headed back to day again. The votes were nail-biters, even after an all-nighter, and missing the midnight deadline. The final vote put the bipartisan plan to keep the federal government funded in action, but with just a small cushion. Democrats in the house still tried holding out for immigration protections, but the deal leaves no protections for daca recipients. Republicans had their own problems, namely with the four hundred billion dollars in new spending that will send the national debt soaring.
