Offshore Outrage

The Trump administration is planning to open new areas for U.S. offshore oil and gas drilling.

The Trump Administration now proposing the expansion of U.S. offshore drilling and opening nearly all federal waters to natural gas and oil exploration. The plan could allow new areas of energy exploration off California and the East coast, including off Maine and Florida. The effort comes less than eight years after the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the largest spill in U.S. history. The plan is igniting outrage from Governors in coastal states and environmentalists, citing environmental risks and threats to tourism. The administration calls the proposal just the start of dialogue.
