Passing Tax Reform
A taxing night on Capitol Hill as the tax reform bill bounced from House to Senate and back to the House.
In another late night Senate vote, the upper chamber passed the tax reform bill down party lines. The House took up the measure earlier on Tuesday in the first round of the congressional volleyball. The bill was immediately sent to the Senate for the final vote, where open debate began once more. The last step of sending the bill to the President will be delayed, at least for half a day thanks to three provisions which do not align with the Senate’s special budgetary rules that have forced the bill back to the house. The House Rules Committee will meet again Wednesday morning to prep yet another rule to put the revamped bill on the floor.
