Ending the Search
The search for three missing sailors in the western Pacific has been called off.
U.S. and Japanese crews have suspended their search their search Friday morning in the western Pacific for three sailors missing since a U.S. Navy aircraft crashed in the Philippine Sea. Eight sailors were rescued after the crash while flying between Japan to the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan. The U.S. 7th fleet, which covers Asian waters, has been the source of deadly accidents in the last few months. Us military crashes are up 38% this year compared to the same point a year ago. Navy officials are investigating multiple potential scenarios involved in the crash including the loss of two of the plane’s engines.
