Tax Plan Trepidations

Trump administration officials are struggling to line up votes for the tax plan.

It may be a holiday on the hill but Trump administration officials are gearing up for a tight vote on the new tax plan. Several Republican votes have shied away from the plan, unimpressed by what they see for a variety of reasons. Some want bigger breaks for small businesses, and some don’t like the end of the Obamacare insurance mandate. Others are worried about the effect on the deficit. The uncertainty surrounding the plan could keep it from being passed before the President’s end-of-year deadline. The White House can push tax reform into next year if necessary, but many members of congress will be caught up in their midterm elections.
