Prepare for Heavier Traffic Around Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, NC – Thousands of NASCAR fans kicked off the “10 Days of Thunder” at Charlotte Motor Speedway with the annual All-Star Race.

With so many people in town, you could see a traffic impact whether you’re coming to the race or not.

“Plan for some extra delays along 85.. if you know a back way, go ahead and use that back way,” explains Jen Thompson with NCDOT.

If you are headed to the Speedway, Thompson says consider using Highways 29 or 49, or the Poplar Tent Road exit.

Widening construction on 85 North of the speedway will be suspended, as well as work on the 77 toll lane project, except right around Uptown.

“Just make sure you leave extra time to get around cause we’re gonna have a couple extra thousand fans with us all week,” Thompson says.
