Damage in Gatlinburg

Three people are dead and thousands evacuated in the wake of devastating wildfires.

The popular tourist town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee has been left devastated after raging wildfires swept through the area. Three people have been confirmed dead, while hundreds of buildings burned, including the home of the town’s mayor. Many are upset due to the short notice of the evacuation orders, forcing thousands into emergency shelters in the rural area. While rain helped extinguish the imminent danger, officials warn incoming high winds could re-spark the dry mountains.
