Hurricane Matthew make-up days
Horry County schools to make up three missed days due to storm
HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WFXB) – The Horry County Board of Education met Monday evening to discuss the damage of Hurricane Matthew and its effect on the school year.
As a result of Hurricane Matthew, students missed seven instructional days, while Green Sea-Floyds missed eight, according to district officials.
Three make-up days will occur on November 23, January 2nd, and January 13th. State law requires that districts in South Carolina must make up the first three days of school missed from inclement weather and, after those three days are made up, local school boards can waive the next three days. However, that can only happen with a majority vote.
