A Stand for Gun Control

A marathon fillibuster has come to an end in the U.S. Senate after lasting nearly 15 hours.

Representing a state also home to an historical mass shooting, senator Chris Murphy (D-MA) held the Senate floor for nearly fifteen hours yesterday, a filibuster asking for stricter gun control. It was not the longest filibuster Congress has seen, but Murphy felt he had made some headway. Following the Orlando shooting, there’s a new Congressional push to strengthen gun laws, mainly new legislation to ban individuals from purchasing firearms.
