HB2 Decision Due

The deadline for the North Carolina state government to stop enforcing a new anti-LGBT law is today.

With the debate over transgendered bathroom use heating up in North Carolina, the federal government has stepped in with a ruling. The Justice Department ruled last week that HB2- the “Bathroom Bill” is a civil rights violation, and has ordered the state to not enforce the law after today. However, Gov. Pat McCrory would like more time to make a decision, and feels the federal government is bullying the state. House Bill 2 requires transgendered people to use the bathroom that correspond to the gender on their birth certificate, regardless of which gender they express themselves as.
