HB-2 Dispute

North Carolina's controversial HB-2 is drawing ire from businesses and some other state governors.

The response to North Carolina’s recently-passed HB-2 continues to unfold as the state’s Attorney General is now refusing to represent the state in the federal lawsuit against the state, while New York state Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a ban on nearly all official travel to the Tar Heel State. City officials in New York City and San Fransisco are also instituting travel bans for city workers, while Atlanta city leaders have asked the NBA to move the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte. HB-2 requires people to use the the public restroom that corresponds to the sex listed on their birth certificate, which is seen by many as discriminatory against LGBT people.
