Tense moments on Capitol Hill as a gunman is taken into custody at the Visitor's Center.

There were some scary moments at the U.S. Capitol after police shot at a man who drew a weapon at the Visitor’s Center. The suspect, identified as 56 year old Larry Dawson, of Antioch, TN, held up a gun at a checkpoint and was shot at by police. Dawson -who has been arrested for a previous outburst inside the House chamber- underwent surgery at a local hospital and is in an unspecified condition. The Capitol will be open for business as usual today, including the visitor’s center.
